What an Umrah package from Islamabad actually covers

An Umrah package bundles the separate things you would otherwise book yourself: the visa, the flights, the hotels and the road transport in Saudi Arabia. Since the 2025–26 changes to Nusuk, those pieces are linked. The visa can’t be issued until confirmed hotel and transport bookings from approved providers are attached to your application. For Pakistani passport holders, a MoRA-attested operator submits all of this on your behalf.

Everything beyond that core — Ziyarat, meals, private cars, a Taif trip — varies from one agency to the next. That’s why two packages with the same name can be priced very differently. The only reliable comparison is line by line, using written quotes.

How the journey works, step by step

1. Weeks before: choose dates, category and room sharing; share documents; get the vaccination done at least 10 days before you land.
2. Booking: confirm the written quote, pay by bank transfer and keep the receipt.
3. Visa: the operator files your Nusuk application. After it is issued you have 30 days to enter Saudi Arabia, so the visa is timed close to your flight.
4. Departure day: travel to Islamabad International Airport, check in and go through immigration. If you’re flying to Jeddah for Umrah straight away, put on Ihram before the Miqat.
5. In Makkah: check in, book your Umrah permit in the Nusuk app if it hasn’t already been arranged, and perform Umrah when rested.
6. Makkah to Madinah: travel by road on the transport in your package, usually on a set day.
7. In Madinah: pray at Masjid an-Nabawi, and book a Rawdah visit in the Nusuk app when slots are available.
8. Return: transfer to the airport (Madinah or Jeddah), check airline Zamzam rules, and fly back to ISB.

Package types, in plain words

Economy, 3 star, 4 star and 5 star describe the hotel, not the whole trip. Flights and the visa are largely the same across categories. What changes is distance, room comfort, lifts, meals and how many people share. A “mixed” package — closer and higher-rated in Makkah, simpler in Madinah — is often the smartest way to spend a fixed budget, because the daily walk matters most in Makkah. Choosing a duration and splitting nights

Pick the duration from your leave, then decide the split. Most Islamabad pilgrims spend a little more time in Makkah than in Madinah, but this is a preference, not a rule. People who find crowds tiring often prefer a longer, calmer Madinah stay. Remember that the first and last days are mostly travel. On a 7-day trip that leaves only about five full days on the ground.

Budgeting beyond the package price

The package covers the trip. It doesn’t cover daily life. Plan separately for:

• Meals not in your meal plan (easy to underestimate over 15–21 days)
• Taxis if your hotel is further out or the shuttle isn’t running
• A local SIM or roaming package
• Wheelchair or pusher hire in the Haram, if needed
• Laundry, gifts, dates and prayer items
• Airline charges for Zamzam or extra baggage on the way home
• A cash buffer for delays or a changed flight

Jeddah first or Madinah first?

This one choice shapes your whole trip, and many package pages skip it.

• Jeddah first (then Makkah): more non-stop flights from ISB and more dates to choose from. The Miqat is crossed while you are in the air, so you must already be in Ihram with your intention made before that point. On arrival you go by road to Makkah and usually perform Umrah on the first day or night — hard after an overnight flight, especially for elderly travellers.
• Madinah first (then Makkah): no Ihram needed on arrival, so you can rest in Madinah first. You put on Ihram at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) on the road to Makkah. The downside: non-stop ISB–MED flights are much less frequent, so dates are limited.

For elderly parents and first-time pilgrims, starting in Madinah is often gentler — if the flight dates work.

What hotel distance really means

“500 metres from the Haram” can mean different things: straight-line distance to the boundary, walking distance to the nearest gate, or distance from the back of a large hotel. Three habits help you avoid surprises:

• Get the hotel name and look up the walking route on a map to the nearest gate yourself.
• Ask whether the route is uphill and whether it crosses a busy road or tunnel.
• For shuttle hotels, ask about operating hours and whether the shuttle stops around prayer times.

Room sharing: double, triple, quad and shared rooms

Hotels charge per room, so the price per person depends on how many people share it. A double room has two people and costs the most per person. Triple and quad rooms spread the cost across three or four people. On some economy packages, a shared room places you with other pilgrims of the same gender. A family of three booking a quad room will usually pay close to the cost of the whole room. Ask for the price both ways.

Visa and Nusuk in 2026

For the 1448 AH season (which began in mid-2026), Saudi Arabia shortened the Umrah visa’s entry window to 30 days from issue and kept the maximum stay at 90 days. Nusuk requires registered hotel and transport bookings before approval. In Pakistan, the Ministry of Religious Affairs began enforcing new Umrah rules in July 2026 under the Hajj and Umrah Act 2024. Only ministry-verified companies may arrange Umrah, and payments should go through banks. Saudi Arabia also sets a last date for Umrah visas each season before Hajj — if you plan to travel late in the season, check it early.

Transport and Ziyarat

Packages normally include the airport transfers and the Makkah–Madinah road journey. Ask whether these are shared coaches or private cars, because that affects waiting time, especially for families with luggage. Ziyarat in Makkah (for example Jabal al-Nour and Jabal Thawr, seen from outside) and in Madinah (such as Masjid Quba and Uhud) is included in some packages and not others. Check that it is on your quote.

Ramadan and peak seasons

Ramadan — above all the last ten nights — brings the highest prices and the biggest crowds of the year. Close hotels may sell only full-period stays, and non-stop flights from Islamabad fill early. Pakistani school holidays and December are the other busy periods. If your dates are flexible, the weeks just before or after these peaks often give better value.

Common mistakes Islamabad pilgrims make

• Comparing prices without checking the room sharing type behind each one.
• Paying a deposit on a verbal promise of “a hotel near the Haram” with no name.
• Leaving the meningitis vaccination too late — it must be at least 10 days before arrival.
• Applying for the visa too early and running into the 30-day entry window.
• Forgetting that a Jeddah arrival means entering Ihram before landing.
• Paying cash or into a personal account, with no receipt.

How to compare Umrah agencies in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

There are many agencies across the twin cities, from offices in Islamabad’s commercial markazes to Rawalpindi’s long-established travel markets. Location says little about quality. Judge every agency — including us — on the same points: whether it appears on MoRA’s verified list, whether its quote is written and itemised, whether hotels are named, whether payments go to a business bank account, and whether its refund terms are written down before you pay.

2. Which airline, which flight number, is it non-stop, and how much baggage is allowed?
3. What are the exact hotel names, how many nights in each, and what is the walking distance to the nearest gate?
4. Which meals are included, and in which city?
5. Is transport shared or private? Is Ziyarat included?
6. What exactly is not included?
7. What happens to my money if I cancel, or if the visa is refused?
8. Are you on the MoRA verified operators list? Which bank account do I pay into?
9. Who is my contact in Saudi Arabia, and what is their number?

Pre-departure checklist

• Vaccination certificates for every traveller
• Nusuk app installed and logged in
• Ihram (in hand baggage if you’re flying to Jeddah)
